How do I choose a new career?
I’m in IT but I want to start a new career in something else. I want to work with people and have more fun. I feel I have so much to give that is just being waster – but where do I even start?

There are two good approaches here, and the ideal path balances both. One is to figure out what will really satisfy you. (The book “What Color Is Your Parachute” is the best book ever written on that topic.) The other is figuring out how to leverage the skills you have developed — otherwise, from a salary standpoint, you are starting over at entry level. What about a help desk kind of position, at a company that truly emphasizes fun? Or how about starting your own business. I read an article about a guy in NY who travels around fixing ipods — he has a blast and makes $500+ a day. Anyway, IT teaches a lot of good skills — such as methodical problem solving — so you have Mmany options. Good luck!
